Jimmy Murphy with Sir Matt Busby Badge
Jimmy Murphy with Sir Matt Busby Badge is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
A bronze badge features Jimmy Murphy and Sir Matt Busby with a small statue that served as the design inspiration for the permanent bronze monument unveiled at Old Trafford on 3 May 2023.
The meeting of these two legends began in 1945 in Bari, Italy. Busby, recently appointed as Manchester United manager, observed Murphy leading a training session for non-commissioned officers. Impressed by Murphy's oratory skills and coaching ability, Busby offered him the role of chief coach on the spot. Together, they spent 25 years (1946–1971) transforming Manchester United into a global powerhouse.
Sir Matt Busby once described Jimmy Murphy as his "most important signing". Their partnership eventually led the club to its first European Cup victory in 1968. Today, statues of both men stand outside Old Trafford—Busby's on the East Stand and Murphy's at the Stretford End—overlooking the grounds where they built the club's modern identity.
