George Best is widely considered one of the greatest and most naturally gifted footballers in the history of the sport, famously operating as a magical, mesmerising winger for Manchester United.
The Belfast-born genius made his competitive first-team debut for the club in September 1963 at just seventeen years old, embarking on a legendary eleven-year senior career at Old Trafford that lasted until 1974.
He reached the absolute pinnacle of European football in 1968, inspiring the club to a historic European Cup triumph at Wembley Stadium and rightfully winning the prestigious Ballon d'Or as Europe's best player in the same year.
As a core member of United's iconic "United Trinity" alongside Sir Bobby Charlton and Denis Law, the dazzling forward racked up an incredible 179 goals across 470 senior appearances while capturing two First Division league titles.
The charismatic Northern Irishman became football's very first global pop-star celebrity icon, celebrated worldwide for his effortless flair, balance, and extraordinary dribbling ability before his tragic passing in 2005.
