Brian Kidd celebrated his 19th birthday on the very day of the final and marked the occasion in spectacular fashion, heading home United's crucial third goal in extra time before setting up Bobby Charlton for the fourth to seal the historic victory.
The talented local academy graduate was a vital component of the Red Devils' attack during this golden era, scoring an impressive 15 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions during that unforgettable 1967/68 breakthrough season.
Kidd would go on to spend seven highly successful years as a player at Old Trafford, accumulating 266 appearances and scoring 70 goals before later returning to the club as Sir Alex Ferguson’s influential assistant manager during the dominant 1990s era.
